does anyone know wheree i can go to fund any coeds and website where i can look for some.
my dad works for the dot (department of transportation) and i want to hear what they are talking about so i want to know the code or how that works like if there is something in the radio or what
Depends on where your located….
In the US it varies from analog on frequencies from 30MHz to 866MHz. Along with differing technologies such as conventional, trunking (LTR, EDACS, iDEN, Motorola) with sub modes of each and some offering digital ProVoice (EDACS), P25 (Motorola), iDEN. There are standalone digital such as the D-STAR used on amateur radios which is an off shoot of P25.
In the UK and Europe and many places TETRA a form of digital trunking is used. In the UK frequencies for police and fire are different than in the US or Canada or even Australia.
Brands vary by country too.
Motorola, Tait, Harris, EF Johnson, Racal, etc..
Most agencies don’t use scanners in their cars, just the two ways. Unless agencies that are nearby are on different frequency bands.
Town A is 800MHz trunking town B is UHF conventional then they may opt to get some cheap scanners to allow users to monitor this town. They purchase the samesas everyone else.
