I Am Trying To Find Out Some Information On Slide Scanners In Photography.?
my family has lots of old slides and want to put them on the computer to view them. we want to know if there is a machine that will give a decent quality that doesn’t cost the earth. if anyone has any experience of a certain machine and would recommend it then please tell me what the model is and i’ll check it out.
thanks
The Epson 4490 has slide scanner attachments and it’s a flatbed scanner. Pretty easy to use.
Moving up in price, you can try a dedicated 35mm film scanner that plugs into a USB 2.0 port. Nikon Coolscan IV can often be found for just over $300 used. Just make sure you get all the attachments for slides and negatives.
You can get a printer for under $100 that can scan slides. Check out the link below.
I have a standard Epson Perfection 1670 Scanner which also scans slides using a built in slide scanner, it is about 2 years old and the model has now been updated, epson still make a scanner which does this, check their website for details, when new from Argos, mine cost £90.
I have just bought a mustek bearpaw 4800 ta scanner which is a good little piece of kit, although at the moment I am having a few software problems but thats down to my old computer rather than the scanner I think. It cost me about £50.00
