right on a dlp, after 4000 hours the picture then starts to detereate or whatever, so what happens then, do i just buy a new lamp? or do i have to buy a new projector altogether?

If they get rid of the color wheel,(because as time goes by the colors start to fade, and picks up dust)I will be very happy to get one.I think Mitsubishi makes one that uses laser light. For now SXRD all the way.

  3. t5239857289578947594 says:

    @redSKORPION50 SXRD is insane!!!!!

  4. MKBEntertainment says:

DLP is brighter therefore used in cinemas, higher end DLPs use 3 chips and has an amazing picture. however at a very high cost.
CRT produce the best black of all 3 technologies and the most accurate color and has a film like picture. But brightness is just weak and is limited to smaller home theater systems.

3 chip DLPs look awesome and are plenty bright but the price is gonna cost you an arm and a leg at 10k+ ..
This is from all the demos I’ve seen around…
    LCDs have ghosting effect so.not4me

  5. Site4Animation says:

First off, quit living in the past. Yeah, CRT was good back in the day.

    But:
    CRT projectors are HUGE
CRTs have NO HD connections (what is the point then?)
CRTs quality degrades after a few years (fact)

You mention extremely high resolutions.. What’s the point? If pretty much NOTHING supports it, why bring it up?

One more thing… CONTRAST RATIO MEANS NOTHING! It’s bogus numbers that everyone releases. Look it up, it’s true. If you want me to explain why, let me know.

  6. redSKORPION50 says:

You have no idea who i am or what i do, so you wouldnt have a clue what i know or what i base my assumptions on. You seem to base yours on what everyone else uses, and not what is best. CRT is best for many reasons, and smokes DLP and LCD very well.

  7. redSKORPION50 says:

You clearly know nothing about quality either, CRT shits on both, and there is NO question about it. CRT projectors are capable of resolutions up to 3200×2560 in the case of the Barco CINE 9, yet they will smoothly and clearly resolve any other resolution in between. Not only that, the contrast ratio is a GENUINE 30,000:1, not a dynamic figure as is DLP. Then we come to life span, the average CRT will easily do 12,000 perfect hours, and still continue to operate well over double that.

  8. Site4Animation says:

That’s because you literally know nothing about what is quality. LCD is horrific when it comes to projection.

If LCD was so superior, then why do ALL cinemas use DLP projectors? Exactly, so hush.

  9. redSKORPION50 says:

I think ive got a fair idea, im from the CRT era where things work and look great. The only other projection format id touch AFTER CRT, is LCD.

  10. Site4Animation says:

You obviously know nothing about technology, or quality.

  11. Deanzsyclone says:

This is OLD info, it’s 2009 and LCD is soooo much better now. To close to call now days. But DLP still keeps charging as if they have some sort of lead in picture quality by leaps and bounds, and reliability, not true any more.

  12. usairman8806 says:

I was getting excited cuz I just bought a projector thats a DLP but then realized at the end its all DLP propaganda. lol

  13. 7hom says:

    advertising is propaganda ;)

  14. redSKORPION50 says:

Not at all true. Lamp life is generally quoted 3,000 to 4,000 hrs on LCDs, and although my Mitsubishi LCD projector had a quoted life of 2,000 hrs on high and 3,000 on low, i ran it on low its whole life, and its still going on its first bulb, i put it up for sale after it clocked up abit over 5,000 hours, and its still going now(bulb has been replaced, but the old bulb was still going)Picture quality was still almost as good as it was when i bought it almost 6 years ago. Was perfect for movies.

  15. redSKORPION50 says:

Ive had both, on my 3rd LCD (got 2 Epsons still in the house, sold a Mitsubishi after 5,000 hrs use), had one DLP cause i too thought it was better, had it 2 months and sold it to upgrade back to LCD. The LCD youve got 3 screens, DLP has only 1 DMD chip, and there is rainbows everywhere as soon as you move your head. Youll never see that with LCD, and anyone here that says they can see a screen door effect on a 120″ screen from 4 yards away in 1080p is having a good hard tug, cause you cant.

  16. poweressen says:

I dont think its propaganda, lcds show weaknesss to heat and uvs, and DLP are much more stronger with a noticable better color and contrast quality, the solution for longterm is, or you get a DLP projector, or you replace the Bulb by a DIY Led engine and then get no IF and UVs so your projector will last virtualy “forever”.

  17. gladiatornot says:

whooo 5,000 hours no such thing true life projectors (dlp)on economy mode on lamp use last at an average 3,000 hours. i have a $600 viewsonic dlp projector(top quality).Lcd projectors are not good for films and they also dont last long (as in lamp life)

  18. TKSnatch says:

    Yes, this is so bias.

  19. pyecraft says:

Can’t you hook up a DLP projector to the laptop? Or are you asking when the monitors on the laptop will be DLP tiny mirror technology?

  20. pyecraft says:

Awesome, I bet the PS3 looks beautiful on there. The contrast and picture quality rocks.

  21. zig8100 says:

Plasma sucks ass. When it starts lookin YELLOW after 2 yrs then say something. Cant even play video games PLASMA . DLP is way better then plasma and lcd. Feel sorry for u plasma and lcd owners who will be throwing away your tv in 4-5 years. Whats the use of having a flat panel if your going to put on a STAND??? LOL stupid people. Just to say u got a flat panel? LOL. DLP rules. Bye.

  22. fendy26 says:

when would ‘dlp’ introduce for laptop computers for apple macbook or others?

  23. Poisonsting22 says:

I HAVE AN SAMSUNG DLP PROJECTOR and playin my ps3 on it its FUCKINAZING

  24. peaceinstiches says:

    Is this propaganda?

  25. iamwarrior99 says:

my lcd projector was great when I first got it. but in almost two years the picture started to turn blue. a couple of days ago I got a dlp projector sharp xr30x and the picture is far more superior to the lcd. I’m never getting another lcd projector. on the lcd the resolution lines were highly visible. with my dlp the only time I see the resolution lines is when I’m real close hdtv looks incredible I would not advise anyone to get an lcd,dlp owns.
